Pat Shand on his Charmed novels' limbo status and story tidbits

First of all, if you don't know (you should), Kevin and Shawn from the Word of the Witches podcast talk weekly about the Charmed comics issue by issue. It is a great podcast for every Charmed comic fan with great guests ranging from superfans to the creative team of the comics. So, if you haven't, run and listen to their coverage. You can listen to the podcast here: Words of the Witches Youtube Channel.

Starting their season 10 coverage, they had Pat Shand on their show and he talked about how he started writing professionally, his time with Zenescope and of couse Charmed like how he got the job and the preparation to write the season, main themes from S10, building on Paul Ruditis’ S9 story, Prue and Patience, Cole, Tyler and fun stories like when Zenescope didn’t recognize the terms “shippers” and “Phole” so they changed the solicit of an issue.

Pat also talked about his Charmed novels and gave some fun tidbits of their story.

On Prue and Cole's relationship:

Pat Shand: "I got to play so much more on the Prue/Cole relationship in my novels and it is such a shame that they never came out."

On the status of the two unreleased novels:

Pat Shand: "I will tell you exactly what happened. I was hired by Joebooks to write first Social Medium and then I got the Symphony for the Devil project. The deadlines were so short, I wrote Social Medium while I was moving and during this move I drove from California to New York, back to California and did the drive a second time. I wrote Social Medium during that and about a week after. So, about a 3-4 week period and that was fully edited, ready for print, ready for digital and before it came out I was hired for Symphony. That one I wrote in full and I was never given any note which in comics that’s a great thing, that’s fine. In prose, it’s not a good sign. That means no one read it because you know there’s going to be mistakes. I got no notes on that, stalled and probably a month or two later I was give the Iron-Man gig which then led to an Iron-Man novel, an Avengers novel, Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor and that happened over the course of about a year and a half. The whole time we are waiting and the structure of these deals are that JoeBooks assembles the team and works editorial but they come out through a different publisher, they come out through Harper Collins Canada and there were issues with the Charmed license, if they are going to continue this way and during those license issues where they weren’t sure how they were going to put it out Joe Books went out of business and that left the Charmed novels stranded with no owner of that license and I have since had conversations with... can’t say who, couple of publishers who have brought up the idea of maybe we will think about, see if we can try this. It has not come to fruition (…) Readers on Twitter ask me “why don’t you get the Charmed license” and the reason that it doesn’t work like that is because I asked for it. I asked if I could somehow do these books on my own through Space Between and the answer is because of all the high level conglomerates that own these IPs, CBS and even higher than that… Financially it would be impossible and I would have to guarantee a certain amount of income back. Licensing is hard right now, so I say this to not give anybody false hope: No one has the rights to these novels right now, there is no one who is scheduling them, they are completely in limbo. I don’t even know if anyone besides me has the full files."

On some fun story tidbits from the novels:

Pat Shand: "There are some cool characters in those (novels). Symphony has a character who is kind of based on Taylor Swift and she would have been a fun addition. (…) That novel had vampires too. Man, It was so cool, it was so fun. (…)

The character’s name was Ruby Blackwood. She would have been the Taylor Swift character and there was a plotline where Cole pretends to be a double agent. These novels had a lot of Prue, a lot of Cole . I’ll say this, because the novels read more like as a half season than as an episode, because you spend so much time with the characters, the ending of Social Medium was a full out battle. It was this huge all out brawl. It was like the Endgame battle at Prue’s Nexus of the All. It was between Seasons 9 and 10 and it was as if Paul (Ruditis) and I had build a whole season 9.5. (...) I am going through this now and I'm just reading certain dialogue like: Piper says: "Well, at least you got a bat mitzvah for Whitley out of the deal". I don't know what that means, it's been so long..."

Q&A with Paul Ruditis - Charmed The Illustrated Storybook

Kostas: Hello Paul! How are you?

Paul: I’m good, thanks! Thrilled to be chatting with you again about Charmed. Who would have thought when you created your website for the comic books a decade ago that we’d still be talking about Charmed stories?

Kostas: Congrats and thank you for the new release!

Paul: Thank you for the years of support. I get to do fun things like this only because the Charmed community is keeping the show alive. Thank you all for that!

Kostas: It’s been some time since we’ve had an OG Charmed release but it feels like you’ve never left Charmed. You’ve expressed in the past that you try and pitch for new releases for the series. What can you tell us about that?

Paul: Very little, I’m sorry to say. Just that it’s been an ongoing process. Whenever I see an opportunity, I try to bring in Charmed. And let me assure you, if you’ve thought about it, I’ve probably pitched it. The challenge is always convincing businesspeople that an audience is still out there for the show. It takes more than just pointing out how popular the series was when it was on the air. It’s about making sure they know there’s still a connection to the fanbase. Things like TNT running episodes for hours on end in the US helps, but the further we get from the series, the further we get from other books that can be used for comparison when trying to convince a sales team that there’s an audience interested in purchasing a new book or whatever.

Kostas: How and who came up with the idea for a Charmed storybook?

Paul: The idea to do a storybook based on Charmed was the brainchild of the co-publisher at the company where I currently work. We’ve released some other storybooks based on movies like The Goonies, The Muppets Christmas Carol, and It’s a Wonderful Life. We were sitting around talking about what other stories we could tell—and obviously she knows about my history with Charmed—and she just suggested it. That was almost two years ago, I’d say.

Kostas: How long was the Storybook in production? Were there any “roadblocks” like likenesses that had to be allowed to be used this time, for example Grams?

Paul: As you’ll see, the artwork is very child-friendly and stylized in a way that it’s not an exact replica of the characters, but a more a look at them as children’s book characters. It’s more like having hints of them in the characters, rather than their actual selves so likeness wasn’t really a roadblock. And, of course, those stylized characters are based on the child actors that were guests in the episodes where we got to see glimpses into the past. There’s hardly ever been likeness issues with any guest characters because they sign a standard contract that includes likeness rights when they accept a role.

Kostas: How was the brainstorming process for the storybook’s plot? Any scrapped storylines you went through? Did you encounter any difficulties given this new format for the series?

Paul: As soon as we came up with the idea, I went back to rewatch all the episodes that looked back on the past, like “P3 H2O,” “That 70s Episode,” and “We All Scream for Ice Cream” to refamiliarize myself with the storylines and the general time of their childhood. (This was both a good and a bad thing, as I rewatched the episodes at the start of the process. But when it came time to actually sit down and write the book months later, the one thing that stuck in my mind about Patty wasn’t correct, as some of you have rightfully called out. I misremembered a fact from “That 70s Episode” where Patty has the premonition while pregnant with Phoebe. I feel terrible about that mistake.)

Spoiler Alert: From pretty much the start, the story was going to be about the girls fighting amongst themselves and finding their resolution via magic, because as we all know, (say it with me now) Charmed is, first and foremost, a story about sisters who happen to be witches. The biggest challenge was finding the magical element that would set the story in motion. We started off trying to create or bring back a child-friendly “demon” to incite the story, but every approach we took was difficult to do in a way that would keep it a bedtime story that didn’t inspire nightmares in our youngest readers. There are certainly many ways to include fun and funny monsters in a children’s book—and Charmed has had such a wide variety of creatures—but every choice we made interfered with the message at the core of the story. It was something we felt and the folks at CBS agreed with. If anyone, the CBS folks were most interested in making sure the book remained as child-friendly as possible. That led us to integrate the Book of Shadows in an interesting new way. The Book of Shadows—and the unseen hands that sometimes turn the pages—has helped the girls in so many ways over the years, it just seemed fitting that it could mentor them in their childhood. And, of course, another unseen hand may have been at work as well.

Kostas: How was your collaboration and back and forth with artist Ria Maria Lee?

Paul: Books like this are a bit more of a process because you go through layers of people to communicate. (This is different from the comic books where I was the writer/editor and I communicated directly with everyone every step along the way.) The bright side is that I was much more closely involved in this title than an author outside of the publishing company would be, so I was one of the people who selected Ria for the project. We were all so drawn to her character work that we knew she’d be perfect for the project.

As for the actual working, we have an incredibly talented art director on the project who took my notes and CBS’s notes and worked with Ria on really bringing the story to life. I got to see every stage of Ria’s work from the very first sketches all the way to the color proofing at the very end. And I even suggested the cover image. So, it’s incredibly collaborative, but with an amazing team working together to make the art jump off the page.

Kostas: There may be more things in the horizon for OG Charmed or nothing at all at the moment. Regardless, what do you think or hope is the future of Charmed’s publications?

Paul: I hope for so many things, really. The Charmed universe is just so rich with potential. That’s the way it is when you’ve got a great concept like the one the show came up with. My greatest hope—which I know I share with pretty much the entire community—is to be able to continue the story in some way and tell all new stories set in the world of the Charmed Ones. But that’s going to be the hardest sell at this point. Failing that, I’d love anything that celebrates the show, whether it be through stories or anything else that lets fans experience the series in a new way.

Ok, let’s be real: I want to do Charmed: The Next Generation. That would be my dream.

Kostas: Any final message to the fans before we go?

Paul: Thank you all for the years of support. I really wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for you all being as wonderful as you are. So thank you for that.

Kostas: Thank you very much, Paul!

EDIT 2/13/22

Paul Ruditis on the importance of pre-orders, international and future releases :

"Spread the word, folks. The more people preorder Charmed: The Illustrated Storybook, the more you show that there's still life in the program. And the more chances we'll have to get even MORE Charmed stories in all different kinds of books. I’ve never stopped pitching Charmed books. Want more? You are my best allies. Spread the word. Make sure the Charmed community knows about Charmed: The Illustrated Storybook. Fly, my pretties, fly! #Charmed #ForeverCharmed" (Source)

"Hello, Global Charmed fandom! Wondering if Charmed: The Illustrated Storybook will be available in your country? Here’s a VERY oversimplified primer on the complicated process of International Editions. Insight Editions has an incredible Foreign Rights team. Their job is to take our book and sell it to publishers in countries where you all live. Those publishers buy the files, translate them, and get them into stores and online where they sell them to you. The foreign rights team does everything they can to convince these publishers to publish the book. But these publishing companies are being pitched books from publishing companies all over the US. How do we stand out? Good question. I have no idea. Hold up Charmed banners outside the annual Bologna Book Fair, maybe? (I kid.) One thing is when the foreign rights team can say “Look how much interest there is in the book." So continue spread the news wherever you are. Also, I see that Amazon UK has the book listed, but won’t let you buy it. You can “add it to the list.” If you’re comfortable giving them your email, add it to the list. They notice things like that. If/when I hear that the foreign rights team has made a deal with a publisher in your home country, I’ll be sure to share the news here." (Source)

Charmed The Illustrated Storybook written by Paul Ruditis announced

It has been so long since I've last posted in the CharmedComicFan multiverse of fansites but the time has arrived!

After a couple of teasers, Paul Ruditis announced today that he is writing Charmed The Illustrated Storybook set during the time Prue, Phoebe and Piper were kids.

Paul Ruditis:

"Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in!
Okay, there was no pulling. I went willingly.
Well, if I’m being totally honest, I went to them and said “YOU HAVE TO LET ME DO THIS!!!”" (Source)

Paul Ruditis:

"I miss sitting down at my computer and writing about the Charmed Ones. I haven't done that in . . . weeks." (Source)

"Coming this fall… (Keep an eye out for more details in the next few days.)" (Source)

"Warning: The first person who tells me that the powers of the Charmed Ones were bound when they were kids will be mocked relentlessly on social media." (Source)

"Ok, one detail I'll reveal now . . . It's the original Power of Three: Prue, Piper, Phoebe. But that's it! No more soup for you!" (Source)

Exciting news that I hope enters OG Charmed into a new era of publications! Fingers crossed!

LATEST FROM SOCIAL MEDIA #7

Pat Shand: Pre-order my first CHARMED novel here! CHARMED: SOCIAL MEDIUM is out January 24th, 2017. X

Pat Shand: I finished the book (Social Medium) in November, and Symphony in January. I'm about this writing life. X

Pat Shand: I don't know if there will be a Season 11, and I don't know if there will be more novels. I haven't heard anything on that front. Time will tell, of course. For now, I'm happy that I was given the chance to play in this world. If this story means something important to one fan, I'm happy. X X X

: I really wish this was a paper novel and not on kindle *sighs* but i guess i'll take what i can get.

Pat Shand: I wish it was too. X

: Maybe one day? :D

Pat Shand: I think based on the size of the readership, we are currently lucky to get an Ebook. I can still hope though! X

On an interview with Adventuresinpoortaste, Pat talked about the editing process of writing a Charmed novel.

"With Joe Books, I’m doing a bunch of different things. I’m writing their Charmed novels, and obviously writing a novel is wayyyyy different from writing comics. So there’s that. But what’s most different is the collaborative process here. With Charmed, I write the novel for the editors but they have partners in CBS and HarperCollins, so essentially I’ll get these drafts with various rounds of notes. This has been probably my favorite part of freelancing, recently, because I feel like there is such a safety net, you know? When I’m writing comics, because of the fact that I will get to edit the letters months after I write the script, I kind of fear editorial notes, because I know that I will catch whatever I missed in the script. But for novels, I really need those notes because there is no “I’ll wait until I see it over art.” It’s the beginning and the end! I remember on the first Charmed novel, I forgot if it was a Joe Books editor or CBS, but they caught something that I missed on, like, FIVE or six “final edits.” I was so, so relieved when I saw that they’d found my error. So that has been a really enlightening process, and I think seeing their notes has made me a better editor and writer."

Following her appearence in Charmed Season 10 #18, Amelia Desmots appeared in Charmed Season 10 #19

Anonymous asked: Is Amelia dead? I feel so bad for her

Pat Shand: Charmed #20 will answer that. I will say that she is one of my favorite characters I’ve created while writing for Charmed. I can’t wait until you can read Social Medium and get to know more about her. X

mandy944 asked: I'm sorry but I'm kinda confused when exactly is Social media being released/ is it already out???. I hated the fact that I didnt/ couldn't read Amelia's story before finishing 10 #19, kinda ruined it a little for me. Either way great issue.

Pat Shand: It’s out in January 2017. It was supposed to come out in I think March 2016, which is why I included Amelia here. Otherwise, I would’ve written it as post-Season Ten, probably. I am not involved in editorial for the prose novels, so I don’t know why it was delayed so drastically. It has been complete for a long time. X

Twitter & Tumblr: March 6th - April 25th

Anonymous asked: The previews from next Charmed got me worried, please tell me Billie is not back :(

Pat Shand: No no, that’s the most you’ll see of Billie in this season – nothing beyond that page. She has a minor role in Symphony for the Devil, but nothing that would constitute Billie being “back.” X

Anonymous asked: You're a great writer and a very nice person. Thanks for what you're doing for us Charmed fans! I totally trust you. I have a question. If CBS gives the ok for Season 11, it will be in comic form (on another comic campaign) or in novel form?

Pat: Hi! Thank you very much. You’re super nice yourself! And I’m not sure about the answer to be honest, but I will say that when I refer to “Season Eleven” here, I’m talking about the possibility of more Charmed comics. With the novels, I wouldn’t want to tell a “season” type story, because I think it’s important for those to stand alone as their own entities. That said, I have only written two of the novels for Joe Books/HarperCollins and I’m not sure if there is a demand for more. With those, I’m not involved in editorial, so I just wait for them to tell me that it’s time for the next novel and then I go write! X

Anonymous asked: Billie finally appeared again, although unconscious on the porch. Will she appear more in the series finale?

Pat: Nope. She is in a few scenes in Symphony for the Devil, but she’s not in the comic beyond what we’ve already seen. X

Anonymous asked: Amelia seems very interesting. I know that she's a novel character but we'll learn something about her first interaction with Charmed Ones?

Pat: Yeah! There are HUGE details you won’t know, because Amelia is a super secondary character in this season and I don’t want to distract from the leads, but we’ll learn a little about who she is to them and why she’s there. X

Pat: It wasn’t always the plan to bring him (Andy) back, but the possibility was in the back of my mine. Since he’s also definitely a ghost, I also got away with the fib – he’s not back, and he’s not really in any different state than he’s been since his death. It’s just that now, thanks to Amelia’s power and the horrific situation with Prue, we can see him. X

Anonymous asked: Pat you are great issue 18 was amazing! I loved dark Prue and Tribunals fight and Andys return. I was hoping for a crossover between comics and novels, i really like Amelia. What is exactly her power? I loved the scenes with Paige and Piper their relationship is great! In page 11 and 12 is Piper trying to blow up Knox but her power is repeled back and why Paige couldnt orb his heart? Please can you tell me that Piper will use her melting power before season ends? Season 10 is the best thank you!

Pat: Hey! I don’t think we will see Piper’s melting power this time around. I never took that as a specifically separate power from her ability to increase the speed of molecules to heat something up, though! The heart orb thing doesn’t work on Dominus, because he’s far more powerful than Gaxageal. We saw Knox get hit with multiple seeds, so this new incarnation of him has the power of multiple Old Ones. Amelia is a medium, but I don’t want to get too too into it. Social Medium demonstrates her power in great detail. X

Pat: Ahhhhh! CHARMED: SEASON TEN #19 is fully scripted. What a beast, that was. X We already had a huge cast with Paige, Phoebe, Piper, Prue, Leo, Coop, Henry, Kyra, Ben, Dominus, Tyler, Kareem, Aidel, the kids... X ...annnnnnnd then I go ahead and add Darryl, Andy, and Amelia back into the mix with #18. I'm a masochist, it seems. X One thing's for sure. While I think that Charmed Season 10 is exactly what it was meant to be, if I do a Season 11, the cast will be smaller X Season Ten was a big, epic, sprawling magical drama about what death means to a family. We needed that huge cast to explore that idea. X I'm excited by the prospect of a Charmed comic that feels more like my novels. Episodic, but still building an emotional arc. X We'll see. Obviously, no promises. We don't even have a publisher for it right now as y'all know. So Season 11 is a MAYBE. A very FUN maybe. X

HarperCollinsCA: Unfortunately we do not have any release information on Charmed: Social Media at this time.

Amelia appeared in Charmed Season 10 #18:

  • Her last name is Desmots
  • She describes herself as a friend - kinda sorta - of the Charmed Ones
  • Using her Medium powers, she helps Andy communicate with Darryl
  • The events of Season 10 #18 take place after Charmed: Social Medium

Pat Shand: MEDIUM is very Phoebe-centric, while SYMPHONY kinda covers everyone X

Anonymous asked: Perhaps you wouldn't like to answer this, but I have to try, if you owned Charmed rights what would you do to keep the series alive if you think a S11 comic won't work?

Pat Shand: I’ve thought about it before. Charmed sells well enough in trade paperback, so I’d probably do graphic novels every few months rather than a full season. They could take place anywhere, any time. I’d definitely like to do more stories focusing on the characters I introduced in the upcoming novels. X

Pat Shand: (...) The end of (Charmed Season 10) #19 was totally changed after writing CHARMED: SOCIAL MEDIUM. (...) X

Pat Shand: All that stands between me & the full manuscript is an all-night editing session. Annnnnd GO! X

Boom, full edited draft of the second Charmed novel in the bag! Now, it's nap time. X

Anonymous asked: Hi Pat, I don't know if you already said something but is there anything cool you can share about Social Medium or Symphony For The Devil? Tease us!

Pat Shand: This is a liiiittle trickier than with the comics, because with the comics, I’m editor/writer, so I can kind of post whatever I want from that. With the novels, that’s a Joe Books and HarperCollins thing, so I don’t want to step on their toes by sneaking anything important out ahead of marketing!

I do think it’s safe to share these tidbits, though.

SOCIAL MEDIUM
- A new witch named AMELIA, who I think fans will really take to.
- An old villain that hasn’t appeared in CHARMED: SEASON TEN returns. No one will guess who it is, I promise.
- Strong focus on Phoebe and Cole. They are each basically the stars on their own concurrent but independent plotlines here.

SYMPHONY FOR THE DEVIL
- MUNROE is a new character – a vampire who rises above the limitations of his species
- RUBY, a new mysterious character, is the star of the show.
- Focus squarely on the Charmed Ones here, as they are taken out of their element.

That’s really all I can say for now!

X

Pat Shand: Another round of copyediting on Charmed: Social Medium. Super different from Season Ten. It would make a really fun summer blockbuster. X

Anonymous asked: Which words would you use to describe the Charmed 4th story arc that can make me get anxious instead of sad because it must be the final arc ever or Charmed BUT without being spoiled?

Pat Shand: I’m starting to highly doubt it will be the last story arc of Charmed ever. I’m getting ideas. X

Anonymous asked: I know you didn't anything about it but did you mean you're willing to write down an 11th season either on comics or ebooks if there would be any?

Pat Shand: Yeah. If there is an eleventh season, I’d be glad to write it. X

Pat Shand on writing the Charmed Novels and Comics

In an interview with FirstComicNews, Pat Shand talked about the difference between writing a Charmed comic and novel.

FirstComicNews: You write “Charmed Season Ten.” Which witch is your favorite?

   Pat: Prue.

FirstComicNews: How is writing a Charmed novel different from the comic book?

Pat: Well, a comic book script is something I can do in one, two, or three days. A novel – that’s a far heftier task. There are the     obvious differences too, like with a comic script, I’m essentially laying out the blueprint for the artist, but none of my writing, hold for the dialogue, will appear on the final page. It’s a lot more of a subtle job, sort of a mix between writing and directing. Where, with the novel, of course the only thing painting the pictures that the artists normally do so wonderfully ends up being me and my words. It’s flexing an entirely different muscle, so the stories I’m telling here are far different in tone, style, and execution than they are in the comics. The novels also have more room to breathe, whereas the comics have to be 22 pages every month.

Anonymous asked: speaking of which... I don't know what pisses me off the most, the fact that #22 is most likely to be "the series finale" or the fact that IF there's a new season (which I don't believe so after all you've said, yet I won't lose hope so easy), you won't be the writter.

Pat Shand: As of now, I’ll write the novels as long as Joe Books and HarperCollins wants me to, though. I’m writing the second one now. I don’t plan on writing anything chronologically beyond Season Ten, but there will be more stories. Perhaps even some set during Season Ten. Not sure yet. I have to talk to CBS and see what direction we’re taking post-Book Four. X

mandy944 asked: So quick question. When is charmed: social medium, coming out and will it be available in the Google play store

Pat Shand: Hi! I don’t know when they have that scheduled to come out. I’m working on the editorial notes, so it’ll be complete on my end soon. You’d have to ask Joe Books/HarperCollins. I admit I’m curious myself. X

eclepsia-regan asked: Will Charmed be getting a season 11?

Pat Shand: I really don’t know if I can flat out say no, but I can say that I’d be surprised. The sales are what they are, and it’s totally out of my hands. I wouldn’t write another season of Charmed for Zenescope, though, but I would probably write as many Charmed novels as Joe Books wanted. I’m currently in the thick of writing my second novel for them, tentatively titled Charmed: Symphony for the Devil. That will also take place between Seasons Nine and Ten, like Social Medium will.

I considered pitching a Season Eleven type book series, but I’m honestly really confident in how Season Ten ends, so I don’t know if it would be the best idea for me specifically to tell stories beyond that point. But you know, if I was struck with a crazy idea that would work for a full season, who knows? So I won’t say no, but I will say the chances for a Season Eleven comic at Zenescope are next to none, and the chances of follow-up novels are uncertain. X

I hope you had a happy holiday. I was curious if you're allowed to say how your Charmed novel was coming along?

Pat Shand: First one is done. Waiting on edits for that one and writing the second one now. X

Pat Shand: Late night edits on CHARMED: SOCIAL MEDIUM. Working w/ has been incredibly rewarding so far. I'm loving the editorial process. X

When is "Charmed: Social Medium" expected to be released?

Pat Shand: I’ve been on hard deadlines, so I haven’t been on social media much lately. I realized today that I never officially announced that I’m writing another Charmed novel for Joe Books / HarperCollins Canada. This one is called CHARMED: SYMPHONY FOR THE DEVIL, and it’s probably the most outright FUN I’ve had with Charmed so far. HarperCollins announced today that they’re aiming for a March release for my first Charmed novel, Social Medium, so it shouldn’t be too long before we have a date for both of these. X

Pat Shand: My goddess, I feel like I've been writing CHARMED: SYMPHONY FOR THE DEVIL forever. Like, "The Sandlot" type forever. BUT I'm like, off the bat really proud of it. I was super nervous about writing Social Medium, because it was my first novel w/ a big pub. When I read Social Medium's edits from Joe Books and Harper, I was flat out relieved. I read it and thought, "OH! Yay, it's good!". This one, Symphony, is fun as I'm writing it and I know it's coming out how it's supposed to. But dang! The writing/research/rewriting process here is endless! Social Medium is a big sort of fun summer movie type Charmed story, but Symphony is far more restrained. The restraint in (new hashtag!) comes from the fact that I'm am introducing a handful of new characters. And these new characters all have specific powers and personalities that need to be as dynamic as the Charmed Ones. . But it'll pay off. I think readers are going to LOVE Ruby and Munroe.   X X X X X X X X X

are they gay? Charmed needs lgbt characters!

A number of them are, yes. X

Charmed: Social Medium aimed for March 2016 release

Harper Collins Canada:

  • We are still finalizing the on sale date but are aiming for March 2016! We’ll keep you posted.

Have to say I am really pleasantly surprised as I was thinking it may be released on May like the first novel. Looking forward to March then!

Charmed: Let Gorgons be Gorgons to be released as a single digital novel

Following its release in 4 parts in November 2015, Paul Ruditis' Charmed: Let Gorgons be Gorgons will be released as a single digital novel on February 2nd, 2016.

Summary:

  • When Piper, Phoebe, and Paige undo a spell that turned a local politician to stone, they little realize the powerful magic behind the hex. As attacks on innocents mount, The Charmed Ones enlist the help of their sister, Prue, confined on the magical Nexus, only to learn that the most heinous of mythical creatures—a gorgon—is to blame.
  • Freed from her underground tomb, Medusa joins her sisters in a crusade to avenge womankind, turning those who cross her to stone forever. At the same time, dark magic seems to be undoing all of Phoebe’s good works, distracting her from the impending battle with the gorgons. With time running out, will the sisters be able to defeat Medusa and restore their innocents to life?
  • Inspired by the hit televisions series Charmed, the new novel Charmed: Let Gorgons Be Gorgons continues the story of the Halliwell witches. With only the Book of Shadows to guide them, the Halliwell sisters are the fulfillment of their ancestor Melinda Warren’s prophecy that three sisters descendin from her line would become the most powerful witches of all time. The sisters use the Power of Three to protect the innocent and banish evil from the Earthly realm.

: Hey, my little Charmers! Today is the day! ALL FOUR parts of LET GORGONS BE GORGONS have been released at the same time! Enjoy! Thank you all for this magical ride we've been on together all these years. These may be my last Charmed stories for the moment, but who knows what the future may hold. (Well, Phoebe should have a clue.) X X X

My one regret is not getting to reveal my name for Phoebe's 3rd child. And now Pat might get to name her! Curses! X

And it was a good name too! Sure to piss over at least 90% of the fandom! X

Pat Shand: The books I write for Charmed will be way lighter for the most part. I just wrote an outline for a possible fourth book and it’s super light and fun. That might be more up your alley. Season Ten is a pretty delicate balance of light and dark. X

Anonymous asked: Hey Pat, it is possible that we could see the Brotherhood of the Thorn, the Ordo Malorum and the Demonic Dark Lords of the Underworld in the Comics one day? Because we didn't see much of them in the show. I hope you now of what demons i'm talking about.

Pat Shand: One of those you mentioned is coming up soon… I’m in the middle of writing a scene with said villains, actually. Not for the comics, though. X

Anonymous asked: The thing is that there many Charmed Books, but there not canon and i really hope your books are and is not just your opinion (not that it doesn't matter) but i REALLY what them to be full canon.

Pat Shand: I’m treating them as such. Unlike other similar properties that started as a TV show and official get continued in other media like Buffy and Angel, it’s been a long, long time since the creator of Charmed has been at all involved, even in the show. There is no one single authoritative authorial voice, so there’s still a debate to be had I guess, but CBS is the licensor and this is the official story through them, so I 100% consider the current novels as the canonical story. X

Anonymous asked: BOOKS!!! I think i don't know something can you tell me and are they canon? also about the last question what would be your favorite Cole's transformation: Angel, Demon, Motal or Avatar and maybe even God. Cole the God and Cole the Angel sound interesting.

Pat Shand: Cole as a demon struggling with his love versus his nature was most interesting to me. The comics are canon and I’m treating the books as such too. A character I’m introducing in the book will show up in the comics, and some of the books will also allude to moments I’ve already done in the comics. X

Anonymous asked: Is there a chance for us to see Cole's alternative reality in Centennial Charmed again? i want to know more about what hapenned in that reality and if things (the evil, cheating, betrayal, etc.) weren't exactly as they look, but more importantly it present the chance to redeem Cole's reputation a little bit more (the seer was watching him) because many people hated him so much and are always so negative about him even now. I'm just saying that maybe not everything about Cole in season 5 was bad.

Pat Shand: There is a lot to be explored there, but as a writer, that would be me playing within a story someone else already told years upon years ago. It would be something I would be interested to read but not something I’d be interested to write.

What I WOULD write, however, is a trilogy or so of novels from Cole’s POV. I haven’t pitched that or anything, but it would be cool. X

Pat Shand: Though all of the sisters get their time in the book, my first Charmed novel is basically told through Phoebe’s eyes. And Cole’s. It’s third-person, but they’re each the lead character in their own plots. A lot of it is about Phoebe’s power and what it says about her. X

Pat Shand: I like how the premonitions and empathy tie together in a way. I don’t use the levitation too often because I feel it’s not as close to the core of who Phoebe is, and that she’s most comfortable with who she’d become now, that she’s more likely to use her empathy in creative ways. I did just add a bit of levitation into the novel draft, though. X

Pat Shand: Finishing the first draft of the CHARMED novel today. It'll be a grueling session of writing, rewriting, editing, coffee, coffee, etc X

Is there something wrong with Phoebe's premonition power? None during season 10.

Pat Shand: Social Medium, the book I wrote which is between S9 & S10, has a bunch. There will be some later in S10. X

Charmed: Let Gorgons Be Gorgons Part 2 of 4

  • When Piper, Phoebe, and Paige undo a spell that turned a local politician to stone, they little realize the powerful magic behind the hex. As attacks on innocents mount, The Charmed Ones enlist the help of their sister, Prue, confined on the magical Nexus, but are unaware that the most heinous of mythical creatures-a gorgon-is to blame.
  • Freed from her underground tomb, Medusa reluctantly joins her own sisters in their increasingly visible attacks around the city of San Francisco. • Inspired by the hit televisions series Charmed, the new novel Charmed: Let Gorgons Be Gorgons continues the story of the Halliwell witches. With only the Book of Shadows to guide them, the Halliwell sisters are the fulfillment of their ancestor Melinda Warren's prophecy that three sisters descending from her line would become the most powerful witches of all time. This may be a result of the frappuccinos, but I just turned Paige into a leprechaun. It's an odd way to battle a gorgon, but so be it. X

Shhhh. Don't tell but I'm having Phoebe switch Coop and Cole's souls so they're in different bodies. X

I almost killed Prue, but that would be redundant. X

Hello HarperCollinsCanada! Is there any chance there will be a printed book version of Charmed The War on Witches soon? X

Hi Kostas! I don't believe so, but I'll keep you posted! ~Shannon

Will there be a release of the whole book like The War on Witches

Right now it's serialized. But my guess is anything is possible if the line becomes popular enough. X

Printed books is the ultimate goal, but I don't know that a decision has been made yet. But everyone involved wants them. X

Hey Paul. Will Let Gorgons Be Gorgons be your last novel? Or will you write more?

At the moment it's my last Charmed novel. But I never expected to be writing Charmed in 2015 so who can say for sure X

There are times my job requires me to research the height of actors. Related: Phoebe likes 'em tall. X

I love everything writes!

Awwww ... now I feel even better about that line I wrote in the epilogue where ... oh ... never mind. Thanks! X

Only one more month till the first installment of what might be my last Charmed story ever... X

I hope it won't be the last, but if it does, I'll read it very happy &greatful that you kept Charmed alive for many more years.

I'm glad that we're all keeping it alive. And thrilled that its life continues without me as well. X

I should say, Charmed fans, this isn't necessarily the end for me. The 20th anniversary is coming up. A commemorative book would be cool. X To be clear: no one has talked to me about that yet. But if there is one, I damned well want to write it. X

a commemorative book would be AMAZING! Who do we lean on?! :)

It would have to be a publisher to want to make it happen. I have no doubt CBS would want one. X

all u write 4 Charmed is amazing. u r the best! if they ever made a Charmed spin-off in any form u should be the 1 writing it

Thank you so much. I'd love to write a Charmed sequel. Who knows what the future will bring but I've enjoyed the ride so far X

Pat Shand talks about Charmed: Book 3 on an interview with DarkAvengerC86 at NYCC

DarkAvengerC86 on Youtube had an interview with Pat at NYCC. In it Pat talked about Book 3 of the Charmed Novels.

Watch the full video interview at darkavengerc86's youtube channel.

On if it is based on past issues:

  • Pat Shand: It’s not based on anything that happened before, it’s all new stuff. It’s a brand new story. It’s set between the comic book seasons and we’ve done it so that anyone who has seen the show and have not read the comics can totally pick it up and understand. It’s a brand new story.

On when it is going to be released:

  • Pat Shand: All I know is that book 2, written by Paul Ruditis, is coming out in November and my deadline is in November, so I’m sure that they are going to put out a preview of the book then and I’ll have a better idea on when it is coming out as we progress.

Pat Shand is writing the 3rd book in the new line of HarperCollinsCA/JoeBooks Charmed novels.

Pat just announced this on Tumblr:

NYCC ANNOUNCEMENT: I’m writing a Charmed novel

"About a year ago, CHARMED: SEASON TEN #1 came out. My life has gotten exponentially crazier since that day, mostly because the Charmed fanbase is amazingly, intensely dedicated in a way I didn’t really comprehend until recently. When I signed on to write the comic, I was positive that I would only do this one season and then move on. I had a specific story I wanted to tell, and 20+ issues is a huge commitment… a commitment I was simultaneously making to Robyn Hood and Grimm Fairy Tales: Arcane Acre. But then.

Early this year at SDCC, I was hanging out with Paul Ruditis, and he introduced me to the good folks over at Joe Books. Paul wrote two Charmed novels for them, set between seasons nine and ten of the comics. Did I mention Paul is an angel?

I’m BEYOND excited to announce that I’m currently writing a Charmed novel for Joe Books/HarperCollins Canada. I can’t tell you the title yet – it’s still officially Charmed: Book Three until we settle on the perfect title – but I can say that it’s a standalone story that fans of the show will understand perfectly with or without having read any of the comics. It’s set before Season Ten, and it follows the Charmed Ones as they investigate a witch using social media to reveal her powers to the world. Like with Paul’s Charmed novels before it, Book Three will be released as an ebook first. If it gets enough support, there may be a physical release.

I remember writing short stories on my mother’s typewriter when I was seven years old. I was obsessed with prose – short stories, novels, novellas… hell, I wrote as many Harry Potter fan fic novels as there are REAL ones. It wasn’t until I was older that I fell in love with screenwriting, playwriting, and, later, comic book writing. When I got my first gig in comics with IDW’s Angel, I followed it up with a slew of short prose stories at horror publishers before diving full time into comics. I’ve written and published about two hundred comics since those short stories came out. In a way, this project will bring me back to the basics of what I love about writing.

Don’t get it twisted though, I’m not going anywhere on the comics front. I’ll wrap up production on the Charmed novel in mid-November, and I’m doing it on top of my monthly comics. And, uh… not to mention, because I’m clearly a masochist, I also took on a couple of new comic book miniseries for the first quarter of 2016, as well as a multimedia project. Maybe I can announce the first one this weekend as well.

Anyway, Charmed fans: THANK YOU for embracing me, and for keeping me so entertained with your questions, your letters, your posts, and your love this year. It looks like we’re in for another adventure together."

I know you don't consider your earlier Charmed novels as canon. What about this new project? Is it considered canon?
My personally feeling is the same as the comic books. If YOU want them to be canon, they're canon. If not, they're not. X Since there's no TV show to contradict them, they can be whatever you want. X

You don't think there's a way you could bring back the warlock from Cat House, right? He was my favorite warlock.

CHARMED: LET GORGONS BE GORGONS

"Let Gorgons be Gorgons" is the second book in the new line of novels by Paul Ruditis. It will be released in 4 parts.

Below is the summary of Part 1.

Charmed: Let Gorgons Be Gorgons Part 1 of 4

  • When Piper, Phoebe, and Paige undo a spell that turned a local politician to stone, they little realize the powerful magic behind the hex. As attacks on innocents mount, The Charmed Ones enlist the help of their sister, Prue, confined on the magical Nexus, only to learn that the most heinous of mythical creatures-a gorgon-is to blame.

Serialised Novels

One month before the Charmed Novels were announced Paul talked about them and the idea to be serialised during an interview at the NerdFap Podcast. You can listen to it here from 37:12 to 38:15.

Paul Ruditis: I’m working on a project right now, unfortunately I can’t talk about but it is very exciting because we are doing digital-first. We are going to launch it digitally. Right now the plan is to do it in sections so it’s going to be serialized; it’s going to be a serialized novel that if it sells well enough will then become an actual physical book and it’s really great because there are different ways you can do this. I worked on an idea, unfortunately the idea didn’t wind up going anywhere but this was a few years ago where I was working on the concept for a series that was going to be the same thing where it was going to be very heavily serialized like the old serial movies where everything ended on a cliffhanger. The way we are approaching this is we are actually approaching it as if it is one contained novel. It’s going to be serialized but it’s going to be broken up in a way  that, you know, it depends on where it might be broken up. It might be broken up in the middle of a chapter. It might be broken up where one section has 40 pages, the next section has 50 pages and then you get to experience the story as it unfolds over a period of months or save it up and read it at the end.

While "The War on Witches" will be released as a full ebook, the plan for the rest of the books are to be serialised. Paul talks more about this in the interview i had with him earlier this month. You can read it here.

Interview with Paul Ruditis - Charmed Novels

I had an exciting interview with Paul about his upcoming Charmed Novels. Paul talks about how the novels came to be, how many books are planned to be released and more. He also shares some very interesting hints about the plot of Books 1 and 2 and prompts us to quickly say a title (you'll see!).

                                                                                                           INTERVIEW

CharmedNovelFan: You’ve achieved Cole’s level of “coming back to Charmed” (And we are very glad you do!). What is it about Charmed that drives you to write more stories for its universe?

Paul Ruditis: Ha! I guess I do keep coming back, don’t I?

It is 100% the Charmed community that keeps bringing me back. You’ve all been so incredibly wonderful embracing me and the stories over the years that I simply can’t let go. I’m not just saying that to suck up to you all so you buy the book. (Although you know I think you’re all the most gorgeous and incredibly intelligent fanbase out there.) To be completely honest, the comic books and the novels aren’t the most financially supportive work. As much as I love this universe and these characters, I probably would have stopped writing for it a while ago if it weren’t for this incredible community. So, really, you only have yourselves to blame.

CNF: Writing Season 9, did you have the idea for the novels in your mind? Were you approached to write them or did you pitch them. How did it all start?

PR: No, these stories are completely new ideas. As has been well documented, I never imagined there would be Charmed novels again.

Shortly after season 9 ended the folks at CBS Consumer Products mentioned they were in preliminary conversations with Joe Books about a novel line. They’re the packaging company that hired me to write the books. They do all the preliminary work on the project then hand the files over to HarperCollins Canada as the publisher. As with the comics, CBS kindly suggested me to write the books because they know how familiar I am with the Charmed universe. Then it was just a matter of waiting for the greenlight, which took some time because Joe Books is a relatively new company. I might be wrong, but I think they only published their first book last fall. Along the way, I pitched a handful of stories for approval and then it was pretty much the usual development process.

The funny thing is during that time we also had the horrible delay with the comic books and then the rumors of the TV reboot. A number of people in the Charmed community kept insisting to me that the comic delay had to be because of the reboot. All I could think was that if CBS was holding up the comic books because of a possible TV show they certainly wouldn’t be trying to be making a book deal at the same time. But obviously I couldn’t tell anyone so all I could say was “Trust me. The delay has nothing to do with the reboot!” (The ebook deal had nothing to do with the comic book delay either. Sometimes stupid legal stuff takes time because it’s stupid legal stuff.)

CNF: You’ve written Charmed novels in the past. How was it back then and how different of an experience is it this time around?

PR: In some ways it’s similar, in other ways it’s completely different. The main difference is that the original book line was comprised of truly standalone books. We went out of our way to make sure that our stories could not be contradicted by the show, which was limiting to the storytelling. Nothing could ever really change in the books. We couldn’t make any major revelations about the characters or dig too deep into the show’s mythology. The process also made it difficult for the different books in the line to have any impact on one another as well. I’d certainly read some of the books by other authors, but I simply didn’t have the time to read everything while working on my projects. I couldn’t keep track of what the other authors were doing in their books and they couldn’t keep track of me. On a similar note, I know firsthand how much the Charmed producers loved the fact that the novels existed (which is incredibly rare in Hollywood), but they didn’t have the time to read the books either so nothing we did could ever impact the show.

Now that the show is off the air and the books currently aren’t coming out as often as the original book line—although who knows what will happen if the books prove to be really popular—there’s a lot more of an adherence to continuity between books and comics. It’s very important to me that the stories in the books be standalones. You don’t have to read the comics to enjoy the books. The stories will not continue from one book to the next. But there will be elements of continuity that will track between the books and the comic books so that it is all part of one timeline. There will be references from the comics in the books and vice versa.

For instance, as most of your readers know, Prue isn’t currently communicating much with her sisters in the comics. I proposed the story for book 1 before Pat started writing season 10, but I didn’t get the go ahead to start on the manuscript until Pat was several issues into the season. The fact that the sisters were already pulling away from Prue so early in season 10 could have been confusing with regards to my story so I asked Pat add a line to Issue 2 so that continuity would track and he very kindly agreed. In that issue Prue mentions to Cole that she’s not seeing her sisters as much and she says: “They used to visit. I couldn’t get rid of Piper at first.” Those who have read the preview pages of the ebook have already seen those lines playing out in the novel. That’s something that we never did before with the books.

CNF: Will readers who haven’t read the Season 9 comics be able to follow the novels considering the huge developments S9 brought to the show’s universe?

PR: That’s the intention. They don’t need to read one to understand the other. They don’t need to know about Neena or that fact that the world was turned upside down with magic for a while. However, if they want to fully understand how Prue and Cole came back, then it would be helpful to pick up season 9. I did my best to explain what happened with those two characters as simply as possible in the novel so new readers would be up to speed, but I didn’t spend too much time going into detail there. I didn’t want to recap the entire comic book line because that would have been incredibly boring to those who have read the comics.

One benefit of this is that readers can then imagine the characters however they like. I don’t really spend a lot of time describing Prue beyond her being blonde and having magical tattoos because I’m well aware of the fact that some people are not comfortable with her being in a different body. So, while she still is in that body in the books, readers are certainly free to imagine her however they please. When I’m writing her, I personally imagine her as Elisa is drawing her in the comic book line, but if people who don’t read the comics want to imagine her differently, so be it. When working on season 9, I came to learn that people can be quite dismissive of comic books in general and refuse to read them because they think they’re for kids (as if it would be a bad thing if they were). While I certainly don’t understand that type of thinking, I don’t want that to keep those people from reading the ebooks.

CNF: Will all the books take place between Seasons 9 and 10 or do you plan for new stories for other seasons too?

PR: At the moment the stories will be set in that timeframe, which I’m calling season 9.5, but you can feel free to think of it however you want. At the moment, there’s not a lot of interest at the publisher, CBS, or with me in going back and reliving the past beyond that time period. As for the future, we’ll have to see what happens as both the books and comics continue. Pat is telling a very specific, very serialized story in the comic books. There really isn’t a way to insert a novel into that timeline without one impacting the other. It’s hard to set the novels after Pat’s season because the Heavens only know if he’s planning on killing anyone else. Seriously. The guy’s a serial killer. He even killed a character I created! He will pay for that one day.

CNF: For how many e-books are there plans for at the moment and how frequently will they be released?

PR: Right now I’m working on a second book and in talks for a third. Beyond that, it depends on how the books sell. So please, spread the word. How long this line continues is entirely up to the readers. And … you know … don’t pirate the books. I don’t care what the reasoning is, if you download these books illegally, you have no one to blame but yourself if the line is discontinued.

Not sure what the release schedule will be, but the great thing about ebooks is that they have a much faster turnaround time than physical books. It’s a much shorter period from the point where I turn in the manuscript to the day you can all start reading it. Also, the publisher will be changing things up with book 2 to extend the reading experience a bit. When book 1 comes out on in a couple weeks it’s going to be a complete ebook. But the current plan is that future books will be serialized with sections released in monthly installments. You can think of them more like a collection of short stories that, when combined, make for a full novel. Although there will be several months between books 1 and 2, the last installment of book 2 could be released shortly before the first installment of book 3 (depending on how fast it’s written). It’s possible that there will be a period of time when we’re getting a comic book and novel installment every month!

CNF: The cover for Book 1 will be revealed soon. Have you seen it; and is it a photo or illustrated cover?

PR: I haven’t seen it, but I believe it’s going to be a photo cover. I suspect you’ll probably see it before me since that’s how these things often happen.

CNF: You’ve mentioned you are now writing Book 2. How far into it are you right now?

PR: Not as far as I’d like to be.

CNF: Do you know when we can expect printed versions of the e-books?

PR: That’s another thing that’s up to the readers. Printed copies of the books will depend on how popular the ebooks are. The better the ebooks sell, the faster printed copies will become available. If the ebooks don’t sell well, I don’t know if we will see printed copies. (The publisher hasn’t told me that, it’s just what I suspect.) I know it’s a bit of a Catch-22 for people who prefer to hold physical books (like I do), but that’s the reality.

CNF: You are working with Pat Shand to ensure continuity between the novels and comics. Will the novels have any level of impact on the Season 10 comics or is it more so that the novels don’t contradict events in S10? Or is it both?

PR: Our focus is mainly to make sure we don’t contradict one another, but there may be some elements or plot points that pop up in both. Although the comics and novels are following the same timeline, they are two separate projects and it’s important to me that you don’t have to read one to understand the other. So while I may mention something like Gaxageal in passing in the books (I might not – It doesn’t happen in book 1), I would never write a Gaxageal scene because his story takes place the comic books. I wouldn’t write part of a storyline that you’d have to read the comics to get closure. I don’t think that’s fair to the readers.

CNF: About the plot: A Modern-day witch hunt is coming! Did something go wrong with the humans forgetting (but not exactly) the magic reversal?

PR: Nope. It’s an entirely unique story to the novels, although…

CNF: Are the events of the first book connected to the events of the “Morality Bites” episode in any way? The witch hunt and year (2009) match.

PR: …It is very loosely connected to “Morality Bites.” It isn’t a sequel story like “Morality Bites Back.” Cal Greene isn’t in it. Neither is Nathanial Pratt. Most of the story takes place outside of San Francisco, actually. But the concept was inspired by the idea that sometimes it can be hard to change the future. Just because The Charmed Ones altered the future that they saw in the episode, doesn’t mean that future won’t try to become real in a completely different—and hopefully interesting—way.

CNF: What more can you tell us about these magic stealing mortals mentioned in the description of Book 1? Mortals and magic are never a good combination…

PR: That’s very true. And bad guys with an agenda are even worse. I don’t want to say too much about them, but I will say this: there’s a bit of a clue in the book’s title. What the clue means won’t become obvious until you read the story (because if it were obvious, I wouldn’t be telling you this now), but once you think about what the title sounds like, you may discover a more personal element of that agenda. (And no, it has nothing to do with “The War on Christmas.”) As for what the title sounds like, I’d suggest saying it quickly.

CNF: While continuing the story, do you find chance with the novels to expand on storylines/ideas/concepts from Season 9 that you may not have been able to fully explore in the limited number of pages of a comic book?

PR: Not really. As I was writing season 9 there were certainly times when I wished I could have explored things further, but I feel like I told those stories as completely as possible at the time. I want to move forward with the novels and focus on new stories with different themes.

Along the lines of moving forward, I’ll let you know not to expect to see a bunch of returning guest characters from the TV series. I know Pat’s got plans to bring some people back in the comics and I certainly dipped into that well a lot in season 9, but I’m moving things forward with the novels. I’ll keep using the shows rich’s history in the stories and The Charmed Ones will continue to interact with their family members and closest friends, but don’t expect a bunch of guest villains or random exes to be showing up in the novels because you’ll be disappointed.

CNF: Lastly, is there anything else you would like to add or share with the fans?

PR: Mainly I’d like to share my unending gratitude with the readers for making this such an enjoyable journey. Oh and maybe I’ll also share a little tease that book 2 will incorporate elements from both Greek and Roman mythology. But don’t worry … The Charmed Ones won’t be dressing up in any costumes. (But I make no promises about Cole, Coop, and Leo.)

CNF: Thank you very much for this interview, Paul!

PR: Thank you! And thanks for all the support!

Description:

Having won the ultimate battle against the forces of darkness, Piper, Phoebe, and Paige—, The Charmed Ones—, are looking forward to a hard-earned, peaceful future. But when Phoebe’s former love, Cole, returns from the dead and the sisters are reunited with Prue, now imprisoned at the magical convergence between the realms, a dangerous new threat emerges.
As seemingly normal mortals violently steal the magic of witches, The Charmed Ones must shield their kind while protecting themselves from a modern-day witch hunt.
Charmed: The War on Witches continues the story of the Halliwell witches, picking up where the hit television series, Charmed, left off. With only the Book of Shadows to guide them, the Halliwell sisters are the fulfillment of their ancestor Melinda Warren’s prophecy that three sisters descending from her line would become the most powerful witches of all time. As The Charmed Ones, the sisters use the Power of Three to protect the innocent and banish evil from the Earthly realm.
